Hundreds of supporters gathered in Baghdad’s Tahrir Square on Thursday to celebrate after the Iraqi High Election Commission announced the preliminary results of the parliamentary elections.
Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Sudani affirmed that the Prosperity and Development Coalition will focus on serving citizens in the next stage, including those who boycotted the elections, emphasizing that "Iraq belongs to everyone.”
According to initial results, the coalition secured around 50 seats in the Iraqi parliament, though the final number will only be confirmed after the release of official results, a source close to Sudani said.
The Independent High Election Commission reported a voter turnout of 56.11%, with more than 20 million Iraqis eligible to cast their votes when polling began at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, November 11.
