The Iraqi Judicial Council announced that members of the Federal Court have withdrawn their resignations after the appointment of a new president.
The Iraqi Judicial Council held a meeting on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, attended by judges from the Court of Appeal, the Prosecutor General, and the Federal Court. During the session, the council congratulated Munzir Ibrahim on his appointment as the new President of the Federal Court and expressed appreciation to the judges for withdrawing their retirement applications after their reasons for stepping down had expired.
Last week, nine members of the Federal Court submitted their resignations in protest against the former President, Jassim Omari. Following his request for retirement and subsequent replacement, the judges agreed to resume their duties. NRT previously reported that the judges would return to their positions after Jassim Aboud’s resignation.
