Iraq's Minister of Electricity, Ziad Ali, announced on Saturday that 600 megawatts of electricity will now be supplied to Iraq through the Iraq-Turkey power line, doubling the previous capacity of 300 megawatts.
The new energy supply has officially come into effect and will contribute to improving electricity stability and distribution hours, particularly in the provinces of Nineveh, Salahaddin, and Kirkuk.
Ali confirmed that all technical requirements have been completed and that Iraq will now pay only for the electricity consumed, a system designed to prevent financial waste and improve efficiency.
He also noted that the Iraqi government remains committed to providing electricity to citizens at affordable prices, charging only 15 dinars per kilowatt, in contrast to the KRG administration, which charged between 70 and 350 dinars per kilowatt.
