SULAIMANI — Sulaimani Health Director said on Tuesday (May
17) that 130 people were hospitalized with breathing issues within 24 hours as
a severe dust storm halted flights at the Sulaimani International
Airport.
Saman Nadir told NRT that most of the patients were treated
for breathing symptoms and have since left the hospitals, while a minority are
still under treatment.
On Monday, hundreds of people were hospitalized with breathing
difficulties throughout Iraq as a fresh dust storm hit the country.
Flights resume
Sulaimani International Airport said today (May 17) that all
flights at the airport have now resumed.
The airport issued a statement saying that all flights are
now running normally after a short halt due to the dust storm and reduced
visibility.
