Shepherd abducted and killed in Tuz Khurmatu

SULAIMANI — A shepherd was kidnapped in the village of Jardaghli in Tuz Khurmatu district and killed by unknown gunmen, a security source told NRT on Monday (May 16).

The source said the shepherd was kidnapped on Monday morning and found dead later in the day after a thorough search by security forces.

An NRT reporter said the shepherd was a Turkmen named Arsalan Habib, and his body was discovered between Tikrit and Tuz Khurmatu in the area of Bastamli.

No group has claimed responsibility for abduction the murder so far.

The Islamic State (ISIS) group has previously kidnapped and released shepherds in the area for ransom.
