SULAIMANI —
Iraq’s Ministry of Health said on Saturday (May 14) that it recorded 68
coronavirus infections and zero death in the country over the past 24 hours.
Of that total, 25
of the newest cases are in Baghdad governorate, along with ten in Basra, eight
in Duhok, seven in Wasit, four in Karbala, three in Najaf, two in Sulaimani,
two in Erbil, two in Maysan, two in Babil, two in Nineveh, and one in Diyala.
The ministry
reported zero patients died from COVID-19, the disease caused by the
coronavirus infection, and 87 recovered from it.
Meanwhile, 1,924
people were vaccinated in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
According to the
ministry, 10,577,098 people have been vaccinated in Iraq, a country of more
than 40 million, since the shipment of vaccines arrived on February 28.
There have been
2,326,883 officially-recorded cases of coronavirus across Iraq since the virus
first appeared in the country.
At least 2,299,883
patients have recovered from COVID-19 and a total of 25,216 people have died
from it in Iraq. The numbers are almost certainly an undercount.
