1,463 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in Kurdistan Region: ministry

SULAIMANI — The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Health announced on Thursday (January 27) it officially recorded 1,463 new cases of coronavirus infection over the past 24 hours.

There were 863 new cases in Erbil governorate., 371 in Duhok, 203 in Sulaimani, 44 in Garmian administration, five in Halabja, and four Raparin administration.

On July 26, the Region recorded its highest single-day total with 3,559 infections. The ministry also said six patients had died from the disease, while 828 others recovered.

According to the health ministry, there have been 403,427 officially-recorded cases of coronavirus infection in the Kurdistan Region.

An official tally of 378,253 patients have recovered from COVID-19 and 7,203 have died from it. The numbers are almost certainly an undercount.
