1,336 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in Kurdistan Region: ministry

SULAIMANI — The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Health announced on Wednesday (January 26) it officially recorded 1,336 new cases of coronavirus infection over the past 24 hours.

There were 2,664 new cases in Erbil governorate., 1,544 in Duhok, 785 in Sulaimani, 198 in Garmian administration, 99 in Raparin administration, and 39 in Halabja.

On July 26, the Region recorded its highest single-day total with 3,559 infections. The ministry also said four patients had died from the disease, while 951 others recovered.

According to the health ministry, there have been 401,964 officially-recorded cases of coronavirus infection in the Kurdistan Region.

An official tally of 377,425 patients have recovered from COVID-19 and 7,197 have died from it. The numbers are almost certainly an undercount.
