1,497 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in Kurdistan Region: ministry

SULAIMANI — The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday (January 25) it officially recorded 1,581 new cases of coronavirus infection over the past 24 hours.

There were 916 new cases in Erbil governorate., 344 in Duhok, 197 in Sulaimani, 30 in Garmian administration, six in Raparin administration, and four in Halabja.

On July 26, the Region recorded its highest single-day total with 3,559 infections. The ministry also said three patients had died from the disease, while 240 others recovered.

According to the health ministry, there have been 400,628 officially-recorded cases of coronavirus infection in the Kurdistan Region.

An official tally of 376,474 patients have recovered from COVID-19 and 7,193 have died from it. The numbers are almost certainly an undercount.
