1,122 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in Kurdistan Region: ministry

SULAIMANI — The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Health announced on Sunday (January 23) it officially recorded 1,122 new cases of coronavirus infection over the past 24 hours.

There were 838 new cases in Erbil governorate., 191 in Duhok, 52 in Sulaimani, and 40 in Garmian administration.

On July 26, the Region recorded its highest single-day total with 3,559 infections. The ministry also said three patients had died from the disease, while 240 others recovered.

According to the health ministry, there have been 397,550 officially-recorded cases of coronavirus infection in the Kurdistan Region.

An official tally of 375,453 patients have recovered from COVID-19 and 7,187 have died from it. The numbers are almost certainly an undercount.
