SULAIMANI — New Generation Movement (NGM) Kurdistan Parliament member Kawa Abdulqadir said on Tuesday (January 18) the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has not yet fully distributed the salaries of government employees for December, despite the rise in the price of oil and the increase in non-oil revenues.

Abdulqadir stated he has called for the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Ministry of Finance to ask for information on the Region’s oil income and the revenue from international borders.

He said a large amount of oil income and income from international border checkpoints is unknown, stating the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) have both taken over those sources of income.

The New Generation member said in December the region’s leading parties had taken over a large amount of the income in Sulaimani, Erbil and Duhok and that "no one knows where the oil income goes.”

Abdulqadir warned last month that salaries in the Kurdistan Region may come only once every 50 days, stating that the government had been trying to distribute salaries for 20 days in December and had still not managed to cover all of the ministries.
