SULAIMANI — Iraqi President Barham Salih said on Tuesday (January 18) the fatal attack on an oil facility in the United Arab Emirates yesterday was a "threat to the security and stability of the entire region,” Iraqi News Agency (INA) stated.

Salih spoke by phone with the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan, according to a statement by the Presidency of Iraq, and condemned the "sinful attack” on the UAE. He also emphasized the importance of the country’s relationship with Iraq.

The President of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), Nechirvan Barzani, also condemned the attack in a Twitter statement on Monday, offering condolences to the families of the victims.

"This terrorist attack is a flagrant violation of international law and a serious escalation that threatens security and stability in the region,” Barzani said.

KRG PM Masrour Barzani expressed similar sentiments in a statement on Monday referring to the incident as "part of a pattern to destabilize the region.”

Three people were killed in the drone attack that targeted a key oil facility in Abu Dhabi on Monday.

The attack was claimed by Yemen’s Houthi rebels, according to the Associated Press.
