278 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in Kurdistan Region: ministry

SULAIMANI — The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Health announced on Monday(December 6) it officially recorded 278 new cases of coronavirus infection over the past 24 hours.

There were 108 new cases in Duhok governorate, 89 in Erbil, 64 in Sulaimani, and ten in Garmian administration, four in Raparin administration, and three in Halabja.

On July 26, the Region recorded its highest single-day total with 3,559 infections.

The ministry also said fourteen patients had died from the disease, while 327 others recovered.

According to the health ministry, there have been 377,146 officially-recorded cases of coronavirus infection in the Kurdistan Region. An official tally of 365,398 patients have recovered from COVID-19 and 6,940 have died from it.

The numbers are almost certainly an undercount.
