SULAIMANI – Islamic State militants attacked a Peshmerga barricade in Qara Salim in Kirkuk province on Sunday (December 5) and casualties have been reported.

The Peshmerga Ministry said in a statement "ISIS terrorists launched another brutal attack” against the 126th Brigade of Peshmerga forces near the village of Qara Salim.

"There are martyrs and wounded among the ranks of Peshmerga forces in this horrific attack,” the ministry said.

Two members of Peshmerga forces were killed and four wounded, according to initial reports.

NRT reporter Diyar Muhammad said ISIS militants attacked the 3rd Regiment of the 126th Brigade of Peshmerga forces in Qara Salim in Kirkuk province.

Attacks from ISIS militants have been a nightly occurrence over the past several days in areas disputed between the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and Iraq.

Villagers responded to an ISIS attack in the village of Liheban in Kirkuk’s Sargaran sub-district on Saturday (December 4) night and the village was later evacuated.
