Russia’s deputy FM meets with top PUK, KDP officials

SULAIMANI — Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Mikhail Bogdanov, visited the Kurdistan Region and met with leaders from the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), PUK official media said on Thursday (December 2).

Bogdanov met with PUK’s Co-President Bafel Talabani and discussed the political and economic situation in the Region, according to PUK media.

Talabani emphasized cooperation between the Region and Russia in the fight against terrorism, trade and the rights of Kurds, official party media stated.

The PUK leader also said Kurds should have a "unified voice in Baghdad.”

Bogdanov met with Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and KRG President Nechirvan Barzani on Wednesday, KDP affiliated media reported.

In the meeting with KDP officials, Bogdanov discussed the situation in the Kurdistan Region, the outcome of the Iraqi parliamentary election, and the situation with Kurds in Syria.
