SULAIMANI — New Generation Movement (NGM) lawmaker Mzhda Mahmood criticized on Saturday (November 27) Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani’s recent comments on students’ rights in the Kurdistan Region.

Barzani spoke on the student protests earlier this week and said no country provides free education and monthly payments to students.

Barzani called on students to send representatives to deliver their demands to the government when holding protests.

"We condemn any kind of violence and chaos,” the PM said.

Mzhda Mahmood responded in a Facebook post stating, "There is no place where students study for 16 years but have no job opportunities.”

"There is no country that owes 30 months of salaries to its employees,” she added.

Barzani said that from 2014 to 2017 the federal government did not send the KRG budget, which led to the KRG borrowing money from companies and the Central Bank.
