SULAIMANI — Nearly 40 Kurdish migrants who were detained in Libya for two months arrived in Sulaimani International Airport on Thursday (November 26).

One of the migrants, who travelled with his wife and three children, told NRT they were stranded on the water for more than eight days before they were arrested by Libyan security forces.

He said that they were taken to Benghazi Security Directorate.

He added they were in bad condition at the beginning until they were helped by the Summit Foundation for Refugees and Displaced Affairs. The foundation informed the Iraqi ambassador in Libya of their presence in the country.

The migrants set off from Turkey by sea heading for Italy but ended up in Libya.
