Nearly 40 Kurdish women activists arrested in Iran this year: Hengaw

SULAIMANI — Hengaw Organization for Human Rights said on Thursday (November 25) at least 36 Kurdish women activists have been arrested in Iranian Kurdistan since November 2020.

Hengaw, which closely monitors human rights violations in Iranian Kurdistan, said the detained women include fourteen activists in Sanandaj, eleven in West Azerbaijan, nine in Kermanshah, and two in Ilam.

The organization said out of the 36 activists, 28 of them were accused of holding political activities, six of holding civic activities, and two of religious activities.
