802 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in Kurdistan Region: ministry

SULAIMANI — The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Health announced on Wednesday (October 27) it officially recorded 802 new cases of coronavirus infection over the past 24 hours.

There were 340 new cases in Erbil, 247 in Duhok, 172 in Sulaimani governorate, 25 in the Garmian administration, and eighteen in Halabja.

On July 26, the Region recorded its highest single-day total with 3,559 infections.

The ministry also said 25 patients had died from the disease, while 1,259 others recovered.

According to the health ministry, there have been 358,902 officially-recorded cases of coronavirus infection in the Kurdistan Region. An official tally of 338,617 patients have recovered from COVID-19 and 6,356 have died from it.

The numbers are almost certainly an undercount.
