SULAIMANI — Shia cleric and political leader Muqtada al-Sadr said on Saturday (October 23) that dragging Iraq into chaos and destabilizing civil peace with claims of fraud in the parliamentary elections is shameful.

Al-Sadr said in a tweet that no pressure should be placed on the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) or the work of the judiciary and the Federal Court and there should not be any interference in their work.

"Rather, there must be a calm atmosphere for the Commission to complete its procedures regarding appeals,” he said.

He added that Iraqis should know that being satisfied with the results will bring security and stability to Iraq and its people.
