1,062 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in Kurdistan Region: ministry

SULAIMANI — The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Health announced on Friday (October 22) it officially recorded 1,062 new cases of coronavirus infection over the past 24 hours.

There were 360 new cases in Sulaimani governorate, 318 in Duhok, 295 in Erbil, 48 in the Garmian administration, 41 in the Raparin administration, and fourteen in Halabja.

On July 26, the Region recorded its highest single-day total with 3,559 infections.

The ministry also said twenty-one patients had died from the disease, while 1,406 others recovered.

According to the health ministry, there have been 354,981 officially-recorded cases of coronavirus infection in the Kurdistan Region. An official tally of 332,046 patients have recovered from COVID-19 and 6,237 have died from it.

The numbers are almost certainly an undercount.
