1,409 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in Kurdistan Region: ministry

SULAIMANI — The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Health announced on Thursday (October 14) it officially recorded 1,409 new cases of coronavirus infection over the past 24 hours.

There were 541 new cases in Erbil, 396 in Sulaimani governorate, 285 in Duhok, 107 in the Halabja, and 79 in Raparin administration, and one in Garmian administration.

On July 26, the Region recorded its highest single-day total with 3,559 infections.

The ministry also said nine patients had died from the disease, while 1,534 others recovered.

According to the health ministry, there have been 347,253 officially-recorded cases of coronavirus infection in the Kurdistan Region. An official tally of 320,485 patients have recovered from COVID-19 and 6,089 have died from it.

The numbers are almost certainly an undercount.
