1,099 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in Kurdistan Region: ministry

SULAIMANI — The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Health announced on Wednesday (October 13) it officially recorded 1,099 new cases of coronavirus infection over the past 24 hours.

There were 509 new cases in Erbil governorate, 393 in Sulaimani, 140 in Duhok, 29 in the Garmian administration, and 28 in Halabja.

On July 26, the Region recorded its highest single-day total with 3,559 infections.

The ministry also said 26 patients had died from the disease, while 1,805 others recovered.

According to the health ministry, there have been 345,844 officially-recorded cases of coronavirus infection in the Kurdistan Region. An official tally of 318,951 patients have recovered from COVID-19 and 6,080 have died from it.

The numbers are almost certainly an undercount.
