SULAIMANI — Reflecting on the results of Iraq’s parliamentary election, Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani on Tuesday (October 12) called for unity, tolerance, and partnership regardless of faction or party in order to find ways to improve governance in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

Barzani said in a statement that the voter turnout is a "clear message” that the people expect "better livelihood and improved public services they are entitled to.”

He said that government and partisan officials should make "serious reassessments” and better serve the people.

"We need to come together and prepare ourselves for our collective duties, responsibilities, and challenges ahead,” he added.

Barzani also thanked citizens, parties, media and civil society institutions, Iraq’s Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC), local and foreign observers, and the UN, EU, and Arab League observers for their contributions to the electoral process.
