5.6 magnitude earthquake hits southwest Iran

SULAIMANI — A 5.6 magnitude earthquake hit Iran’s Khuzestan province in the southwestern part of the country on Monday (October 4), according to the United States Geological Survey.

The quake occurred at 6:09 a.m. local time at a depth of 10 kilometers (6.2 miles).

There were no initial reports of damage or casualties.
