SULAIMANI — A suicide bomber exploded a car bomb in Anbar governorate’s Ramadi on Sunday (October 3), according to Iraq’s Security Media Cell.

The bomber appeared to be targeting the local police directorate, but the security forces shot at the vehicle before it was able to reach the building, resulting in a premature explosion.

The Security Media Cell reported that no one besides the bomber was hurt.

The explosion was captured on CCTV footage, which spread online on Sunday.

The thwarted attack comes just a week ahead of Iraq’s October 10 parliamentary election.
