3.8 magnitude earthquake hits Sulaimani’s Kalar district

SULAIMANI — A 3.8 magnitude earthquake hit southeast of Kalar district in Sulaimani governorate’s Garmian administration on Tuesday (September 28), according to Iraqi Meteorological Organization and Seismology.

The quake occurred at 9:02 a.m. local time. There were no initial reports of damage.

Residents in the district reported feeling the tremors.

The Kurdistan Region lies near a major fault line and routinely experiences tremors.
