1,421 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in Kurdistan Region: ministry

SULAIMANI — The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Health announced on Monday (September 27) it officially recorded 1,421 new cases of coronavirus infection over the past 24 hours.

There were 532 new cases in Sulaimani Governorate, 481 in Erbil, 310 in Duhok, 61 in the Garmian administration, twenty-two in Halabja, and fifteen in the Raparin administration.

On July 26, the Region recorded its highest single-day total with 3,559 infections.

The ministry also said ten patients had died from the disease, while 1,215 others recovered.

According to the health ministry, there have been 328,118 officially-recorded cases of coronavirus infection in the Kurdistan Region. An official tally of 294,182 patients have recovered from COVID-19 and 5,819 have died from it.

The numbers are almost certainly an undercount.
