1,265 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in Kurdistan Region: ministry

SULAIMANI — The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Health announced on Sunday (September 26) it officially recorded 1,265 new cases of coronavirus infection over the past 24 hours.

There were 640 new cases in Sulaimani Governorate, 388 in Erbil, 115 in Duhok, 59 in the Garmian administration, 47 in Halabja, and sixteen in the Raparin administration.

On July 26, the Region recorded its highest single-day total with 3,559 infections.

The ministry also said four-teen patients had died from the disease, while 1,085 others recovered.

According to the health ministry, there have been 326,697 officially-recorded cases of coronavirus infection in the Kurdistan Region. An official tally of 292,967 patients have recovered from COVID-19 and 5,809 have died from it.

The numbers are almost certainly an undercount.
