Sandstorm halts flights at Erbil, Sulaimani airports

SULAIMANI—A fresh wave of dust storm halted flights at the Kurdistan Region's two airports, Sulaimani and Erbil International Airports, on Tuesday (May 24).

Sulaimani and Erbil International Airports announced that all flights were being suspended due to the dust storm causing poor visibility.

The airports said flights would resume once the storm ended.

A fresh wave of sandstorm engulfed Iraq, including the Kurdistan Region, on Monday (May 23) and is expected to last until later today, Tuesday (May 24).

Yesterday, flights were suspended in some of Iraq's airports, including Baghdad, Erbil, and Sulaimani.
