258 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in Kurdistan Region: ministry

SULAIMANI — The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday (December7) it officially recorded 258 new cases of coronavirus infection over the past 24 hours.

There were 90 new cases in Duhok governorate, 88 in Erbil, 65 in Sulaimani, and six in Garmian administration, five in Halabja, and four in Raparin administration.

On July 26, the Region recorded its highest single-day total with 3,559 infections.

The ministry also said ten patients had died from the disease, while 423 others recovered.

According to the health ministry, there have been 377,404 officially-recorded cases of coronavirus infection in the Kurdistan Region. An official tally of 365,821 patients have recovered from COVID-19 and 6,950 have died from it.

The numbers are almost certainly an undercount.
