SULAIMANI — A baker was shot and wounded in Hajiawa district by the son of a Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) military official on Wednesday (October 20).

The victim, a 26-year-old who was the owner of the bakery, was taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive his wounds, health officials told an NRT reporter.

According to witnesses, the suspect and the baker got into an argument when the suspect touched other people’s bread.

The suspect fled the scene, but was later handed over to police by his family.

Hajiawa is located in the Raparin administration northwest of Ranya.

It is the second incident in less than a week where the son of a PUK official shot a worker.

On October 14, the son of a PUK official in Kirkuk shot and killed a guard at the Darwaza City residential development in Sulaimani city.
