SULAIMANI — The federal Ministry of Interior said on Thursday (October 22) that the Kirkuk Police Directorate arrested five Islamic State (ISIS) militants.

The ministry said in a statement that the operation was carried out based on information from the Directorate of Intelligence and Military Security’s Kirkuk branch.

One of the militants was a supply officer for ISIS, while another provided the militant group with information about the movements of the Iraqi Security Forces.

ISIS uses the disputed areas as a base of operations to attack civilian and military targets in Nineveh, Saladin, Kirkuk, and Diyala governorates and also has a presence in Anbar.
