3,899 new COVID-19 cases reported in Iraq: ministry

SULAIMANI — The federal Ministry of Health said on Thursday (October 22) that it recorded 3,899 new cases of coronavirus infection and 47 deaths in the country over the past 24 hours.

Of the total, 1,131 of the newest cases are in Baghdad governorate, along with 463 in Duhok, 424 in Erbil, 421 in Sulaimani, 209 in Nineveh, 188 in Basra, 170 in Kirkuk, 170 in Wasit, 149 in Diyala, 125 in Maysan, 82 in Babil, 81 in Diwaniya, 77 in Saladin, 55 in Muthanna, 48 in Anbar, 44 in Dhi Qar, 35 in Najaf, and 27 in Karbala.

The ministry said that 47 patients died from COVID-19, the disease caused by coronavirus infection, and 2,816 patients recovered from it.

According to the health ministry, there have been 442,164 cases of coronavirus in Iraq. 371,826 patients have recovered from COVID-19 and 10,465 have died from it.
