Kurdistan Region records more than 1,300 new coronavirus cases; highest single-day total: ministry

Fourth consecutive day over 1,000 new infections

SULAIMANI — The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Health said on Thursday (October 22) that it has recorded 1,308 cases of coronavirus infection in the Kurdistan Region over the past 24 hours.

The Region also had more than 1,000 new cases on Monday Tuesday, Wednesday and several days over 900 the previous week.

A total of 463 of the newest cases are in Duhok governorate, along with 424 in Erbil, 335 in Sulaimani, 52 in Halabja, and 34 in Garmian administration.

The ministry also said that seventeen patients have died from the virus, while 246 recovered from the disease.

According to the health ministry, there have been 66,131 officially recorded cases of coronavirus in the Kurdistan Region. An official tally of 38,807 patients has recovered from COVID-19 and 2,243 have died from it.
