SULAIMANI — The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Council of Ministers said on Wednesday (October 21) that KRG Prime Minister Masrour Barzani has approved a proposal by Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources Begard Talabani to forgive customs taxes on material and equipment that are not available in the Kurdistan Region and imported for agriculture projects.

The Council said in a statement following its weekly meeting that the order would also include imports of advanced agricultural equipment so that farmers do not bear an additional cost burden.

The cabinet was also briefed by Minister of Trade and Industry Kamal Muslim about the federal government’s purchase of wheat from farmers in the Kurdistan Region.
