Kurdistan Region records more than 1,000 new coronavirus cases for third consecutive day

SULAIMANI — The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Health said on Wednesday  (October 21) that it has recorded 1,078 cases of coronavirus infection in the Kurdistan Region over the past 24 hours.

The Region also had more than 1,000 new cases on Monday and Tuesday and several days over 900 the previous week.

A total of 471 of the newest cases are in Duhok governorate, along with 422 in Erbil, 100 in Sulaimani, 37 in Halabja, and 24 in each Garmian and Raparin administrations.

The ministry also said that fifteen patients have died from the virus, while 375 recovered from the disease.

According to the health ministry, there have been 64,823 officially recorded cases of coronavirus in the Kurdistan Region. An official tally of 38,561 patients has recovered from COVID-19 and 2,226 have died from it.
