SULAIMANI — The federal Ministry of Transportation said on Monday (August 3) that Iranian officials will only allow Iraqi travelers to enter the country if they have successfully passed a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test that checks for coronavirus infection.

“We have been informed by Iranian officials at Tehran International Airport that Iraqi travelers coming on all airlines to Tehran’s airport should hold a PCR certificate so that they can prove that they do not carry coronavirus,” the ministry said in a statement.

It added that the measure will take effect on August 4.

On Sunday, the Turkish Civil Aviation Authority suspended passenger flights to and from Iraq until September 1 because of the ongoing outbreak in Iraq.
